The Dahabiya Dream Luxury Nile Cruise gives you a Dahabiya sailing experience on the river Nile that allows you to explore the ancient sites of Egypt in a traditional way. The great explorers and those completing the Grand Tour would have sailed the Nile on these types of boat.

Itinerary

At your flight arrival time in Luxor you will be collected from Luxor airport and transferred by private air-conditioned bus to check onto Dahabiya Dream. Overnight on board.

In the early morning start your Sailing experience and enjoy the beautiful sights and scenes of the Nile. Relax on the upper deck and take your time to think, read, sunbathe and observe the birds and wildlife as you sail towards the Esna Lock and on to visit the Temple at Esna. This is the site of a major temple dedicated to the god Khnum. Under the Greeks and Romans, the city became the capital of the Third Nome of Upper Egypt. Besides Khnum, the temple was dedicated to several other deities, the most prominent of whom were Neith and Heka. This was the ram god that was worshipped throughout this area and who fashioned mankind from mud of the Nile on his potter’s wheel. Overnight on board

Enjoy breakfast and the views as you sail towards Gebel el Silsila where the sandstone for the temples of Southern Egypt was quarried. The great Stele of Akhenaten came from here and it is thought that 3000 labourers produced the quarried stone that built the Ramesseum. Sail on towards Kom Ombo stopping overnight at a quiet island location.

Today we visit the temple of Kom Ombo dedicated to the Gods Haroreris and Sobek, the crocodile god. Then we will continue to sail to Aswan. Upon arrival you will be going on a tour to visit the High Dam passing by the old dam of Aswan, then take a motorboat to cross the Nile to visit one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt ISIS temple built on the Philea Island. By Sunset enjoy sailing on the Nile on Felucca boat around the Botanical garden and the mausoleum of the AGH KHAN. Overnight on board.
(Evening optional tour) to go to the Sound and Light show at Philae Temple

In the morning there will be time if you wish to visit Abu Simbel Temple (Optional Tour). Enjoy your lunch while we head back to Esna.

Enjoy a relaxing day on-board , upon arrival to Luxor in the afternoon you will be taken to visit the largest temple in Egypt,the magnificent Karnak temple. The complex is a vast open-air museum and the largest ancient religious site in the world. You will then go onto Luxor temple which was dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Chons and was built during the New Kingdom. Overnight on board.
(Evening optional tour) to go to the Sound and Light show at Karnak temples

(Optional tour) early morning Balloon Ride over the west bank!
After breakfast, you will visit the west bank of Luxor, including a special visit to the house of Howard Carter and the newly opened replica of Tutankhamun’s tomb which has been painstakingly reproduced to protect the original, at risk of damage from increased humidity levels caused by visitors. You will also visit the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut Temple and stop at the Colossi of Memnon. Once you finish head back to Dream to enjoy your lunch. Overnight on board.
(Optional tour) visit Medinet Habu or the Valley of the Artists on the west bank
(Evening optional tour) visit Luxor Museum and take a horse Carriage ride around the city

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Luxor airport to take your flight back home.

*Following your feed back regarding the treatment and care of the working Horses in Edfu, we have decided to take action in support of better animal welfare so we are taking Edfu visit from our itinerary until our demands for better animal care are met and swapping to visit Esna temple instead which is well known for its beautiful Zodiac scenes colours and intact columns.
